about me
I am 69 years old and live and work in Bristol, UK. I have spent most of my life working in teaching and training roles of various kinds.
I am a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order (ex-Western Buddhist Order) and teach Mindfulness drop-in classes and Buddhist meditation classes and retreats in and around Bristol.
I qualified in 1993 as a Counsellor with a Certificate and Diploma in Counselling from the Central School of Counselling and Therapy. I have worked regularly as a Counsellor since 1993 and have over 10,000 hrs experience. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and on the BACP Certificate of Proficiency Register. I am an accredited Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher, qualified to deliver Mindfulness for Stress and Mindfulness for Health courses. I have also studied CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and have a CBT Practitioner Certificate from the Copewell Institute working in partnershuip with the University of the West of England. In 1994 I was trained and accredited as a Cruse Bereavement Counsellor. I am an accredited Co-teacher in Co-Counselling with CCI (Co-Counselling International).
I have regular Supervision from a UKCP Registered Supervisor as well as regular Mindfulness Peer Supervision.
The past 10 years I have been studying Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication (NVC) teachings and have attended and assisted on many NVC trainings. I have chosen not to seek formal NVC accreditation, but find Robert Gonzales' approach to weaving NVC into Therapy very inspiring for my own day to day Counselling work. I have attended two full weeks training with Robert.
I have been a Buddhist for 30 years, and enjoy exploring the spiritual dimensions of therapy and counselling.
